SCREEN PRINT
THE ACT OF AUGIE
A2 paper (420mm x 594mm)
Water-based Screen Print Ink + Oil-Based Lithographic Ink
Process: Two colour screen print and hand printed letterpress - hybrid print process
I chose a passage from the 1930’s Chicago, depression era novel: The Adventures of Augie March by Saul Bellow, in which Augie and his two best friends, make a hapless attempt to break into the basement of a commercial building, via the window. With the exception of the “jemmy” (crowbar) and brick, the other items they use are ridiculous.
Using my own images and by also manipulating other found images in Photoshop, I was able to combine the results and apply to screen print in x2 colours.
Once dry, I could letterpress by hand, using antique wood printing blocks and yellow lithograph ink.
