FOLKLORE, FAIRYTALE & THE FOREST | PUZZLE PURSE

Fully unfolded 555mm x 555mm | 190gsm hot pressed watercolour paper | 300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper | Watercolour paint, metallic watercolour paint, Posca pen & light grey 0.5mm fine liner

Using the folk song: Oak, Ask and Thorn and my starting point, I chose to design, illustrate, construct and combine a traditional Victorian puzzle purse and a tunnel book. I also made a sleeve to protect it.

I used the Celtic myth, woodland flora, forest creatures and fairies as my themes throughout this piece.

The centre section was laser cut in heavier watercolour paper, for texture and to strengthen the folded structure.
