Using a photograph that I took of my late Great-Aunt Phil as a reference, I created an illustration which, to me, represents everything about her traditional life, in rural Jamaica.

When I took the photo, Great-Aunt Phil was well into her 80s and still working on her land.

I illustrated some of the flora and fauna that I saw when I visited her home; this represents the lush and verdant countryside that my mother knew as a child.

Once finished, I digitised my original illustration and created a number of iterations, a selection of which I’ve shown here.
